COVID-19 charitable response summary
LCO, March 2020 – February 2023
In March 2020, Sant Baljit Singh Ji motivated Lighthouse Center Oregon (LCO) to initiate COVID-19 relief efforts as soon as the World Health Organization declared the worldwide outbreak as a pandemic. Sant Baljit Singh Ji emphasized that especially during crisis situations, it is vital to serve those in need and that we should expand our charitable efforts. He said: “People need help. We have to go out there and help, and do it responsibly.” We were moved and immediately started to make calls to soup kitchens and food pantries to offer our help.
And thus began the journey of LCO’s COVID-19 charitable response in collaboration with the local charities in Douglas County, Oregon. The unprecedented difficult times of the COVID-19 pandemic have shown over and over again how essential it is to serve those in need. Over the past 3 years, Lighthouse Center Bakery has been the homebase from which LCO has been running the COVID-19 charitable response. The local charities that LCO donates to have been inspirational to collaborate with as they tirelessly serve the community with humanity.
Throughout COVID-19, LCO made and donated fresh, wholesome, homemade food
2-lb bread loaves
pints of soup
desserts
Our stories below share glimpses of the heartwaming connection and camaraderie that LCO has experienced working alongside these local charities during this incredible journey.
